The Edith Nesbit Society, established in 1996, aims to celebrate the life and
work of the author and her friends, by means of talks, publications and visits to
places associated with her. The Society also wishes to encourage
republication of Edith's out of print works and further film
adaptations.
In 1998 the Edith Nesbit Society replaced Edith's original wooden memorial
in St Mary in the Marsh churchyard, which was deteriorating
rapidly, with a seasoned oak replica carved by Mark Folds of
Peckham.
Recent Society events have included a float in the Hythe
Venetian fete, a Railway Children Weekend in
Yorkshire and trips to Yalding, Halstead and Eltham.
Membership fees for the Society are: £7.00 single
or £9.00 joint membership, Annually.
Cheques should be made out to: THE EDITH NESBIT SOCIETY.
